As a wedding photographer in Bradford, I love capturing amazing love stories as they unfold—and Fiona and Anthony’s day at The Midland Hotel was unforgettable for all the right reasons. Fiona herself is a talented photographer, and a wedding second shooter, making photography especially meaningful, especially the selection of wedding photographer. Naturally, this added just a touch of extra sparkle and magic to the entire celebration!

From the moment I arrived at The Midland Hotel in Bradford I knew this was going to make for some amazing photography. This historic venue perfectly complemented Fiona and Anthony’s relaxed yet style. Its stunning grand architecture provided the ideal backdrop for every memorable moment. Indoor ceremonies here feel elegant and grand in the French Ballroom and Fiona and Anthony’s was no exception.

The ceremony itself was intimate with close family and friends. Every guest felt the warmth as Fiona and Anthony exchanged vows, their smiles lighting up the room. I love capturing these moments, laughter, happiness, and the occasional tear (of joy, obviously!).

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed delicious canapés, served around the Midland Hotel’s French Ballroom and amazing staircases. The relaxed mingling, but intersected by Tim who was displaying his magic skills on the day.

Group photos were next, and this part of the day was a breeze. Fiona, familiar with how wedding photography unfolds, knew I’d make sure everything ran smoothly. Friends and family gathered for their group shots when called, completing these with a full group of everyone on the hotels staircase.

Moving into the drinks reception, guests settled into the Midland Hotel’s beautifully styled rooms. The grandeur of this Bradford venue perfectly matched Fiona and Anthony’s laid-back theme. Soft lighting, elegant décor, and great company made capturing candid moments incredibly easy. Everyone relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company, exactly as a wedding celebration should be.

Then came my favorite part of the day—bride and groom portraits. Fiona’s appreciation for photography truly shone here. With the beautiful interiors of the Midland Hotel as our canvas, we created some truly stunning portraits along with a few select small areas outside the hotel near Forster Square Station. Each image felt genuine, authentic, and full of happiness. Having a bride who understands the magic behind each shot made this session even more special.

Throughout our portrait session, Fiona and Anthony were at ease and thier laughter made my job effortless. Capturing couples who are genuinely enjoying each moment is the heart of my work as a wedding photographer. It’s always rewarding, especially when the bride herself shares this passion!

The celebration continued into the evening with an enchanting first dance. The Midland Hotel’s ballroom transformed and buzzing with excitement. Fiona and Anthony gracefully took the floor, wrapped up entirely in their own magical moment. Guests surrounded them, sharing their happiness, capturing this beautiful memory  before the beats turned up a notch and the party really started.

Wedding photography is about more than just beautiful images—it’s about capturing real moments of love, joy, and laughter. Fiona and Anthony’s celebration provided endless opportunities to document these genuine emotions.

If you’re planning your wedding in Bradford and searching for natural, authentic, and beautifully relaxed photography, let’s chat. Like Fiona, you deserve images that perfectly reflect your unique day. The Midland Hotel provided a gorgeous backdrop, but it’s the people, laughter, and real moments that truly bring wedding photography to life.

Fiona’s Review:

‘I just want to say that I could not have been happier with my choice of photographer of the lovely Martin Hillary. Wedding photography is not easy but he did the most fantastic job of getting the guests organised for all the shots that we wanted. He has a lovely manner and is so enthusiastic about what he does. Don’t be fooled into going to a cheap wedding photographer as you may well be very disappointed. Martin has the experience, the right equipment and lightning and he has the most special of things, the imagination to ‘see’ the shot in his head beforehand. Thoroughly recommended.’
