Martin was the absolute BEST photographer we could ever have wished for. From the moment we met him we felt comfortable and accepted and this only grew the more time we spent with him. He made every guest feel comfortable and took some of the most beautiful pictures of our wedding day. There is no one we would rather have and documenting the best day of our lives. He’s one in a million!

Caroline and Katie

Some weddings just buzz with personality — and Katie and Caroline’s wedding at The Bridge Inn Hotel and Spa near Wetherby and Leeds absolutely delivered in bucketfuls. I knew this was going to be a wedding to remember from meeting Katie and Caroline a couple of times before the ceremony.

Two brides. One epic love story. And hair colours that deserved their own spotlight.

Laughter, Lipstick and Coloured Hair Perfection

Katie rocked bright vibrant green hair and suit with small motfis of birds on her shoes, jacket, lapel. I’d like to say shes was calm…… but……

Meanwhile, Caroline — equally stunning with her bold red hair — had those pre-ceremony nerves but it was backed up with junf and jokes throughout.  If you’re after LGBTQ+ wedding photography in Leeds, this is exactly the vibe I love to capture — real moments. The emotions that you can’t make up!

Both brides ready, they looked like they were straight out of a magazine… if that magazine was all about being yourself and proudly loving loudly.

Ceremony at The Bridge Inn: Emotions up to max!

The ceremony room at The Bridge Inn near Leeds is elegant and stylish. It suited Katie and Caroline perfectly. The ceremony filled with genuine emotion and love between the two of them.

I absolutely love documenting LGBTQ+ weddings like this one where the love and emotion is truely genuine. And in a world where being ‘you’ isn’t sometimes easily accepted it makes the day all the more special that a couple can show their emotions and just be who they want to be.

Canapés and Cheeky Prosecco Pours

Once the ceremony finished, it was time for fizz and finger food. The staff at The Bridge Inn were, as ever, absolutely spot on. I have an amazing relationship with The Bridge and we work seemlessly on the day as one team.

Even during the canapés, the laughter didn’t stop. If you’re thinking about a relaxed wedding at The Bridge Inn near Wetherby, you’ll love the atmosphere, the people and the surroundings

Groups: Quick, Fun and No One Escaped

I always say this — group photos don’t have to be painful and / or boring. I keep things moving, fun, and full of personality with the odd bit of mikey taking for good measure. The families were brilliant. Plenty of jokes, a few hilarious height mismatches, and no one disappeared to the bar “by accident.”

Being a wedding photographer in Leeds, I’ve done hundreds of group shots. But when everyone’s this chilled and the couple’s this loved? It’s pretty easy. Plus, the hotel’s grounds, under the tree, where the sun comes through provides a perfect golden rim light.

Couple Portraits Round One

Katie and Caroline were amazing in front of the camera. Not too posey, just perfectly themselves. The green from the trees, the stone of the building, and their hair colours popped showing the personalities they were!

We grabbed a few quiet minutes before heading in to the wedding breakfast. The Bridge Inn gives you loads of options — tucked-away garden bits, soft window light inside and some lovely architecture.

Every LGBTQ+ couple deserves photos that show who they are — not who people expect them to be. Authentic, true to themselves and without limits!

The Wedding Breakfast and Speeches

I always take my leave after the speeches to have a break and put together a slideshow telling the story of the day ‘so far’. This is displayed on a screen I bring to every wedding. Before that though, speeches and they were funny, extremely emotional and straight from the heart.

You could feel the warmth in the room — not just from the Prosecco, but from the people.

Couple Portraits Round Two: Golden Hour Glam and Grass Stains

We snuck out again, just before the first dance. The light was unreal — soft, flattering, and totally golden.  This time down the road behind the hotel for some evening shots as it was now cooler. A different type of light and a different type of shoot!

These portraits are the ones that always end up printed. Not because they’re perfect. But because they’re real. The Bridge Inn’s evening light really delivers — I always recommend this second short shoot for couples who want variety.

First Dance

The first dance was… chaotic and fabulous as it wasn’t long before everyone piled in and bubbles were blown from the side lines. There was zero pressure and 100% joy. That’s my favourite kind of dance floor.

You don’t need a routine. You just need each other. And maybe a couple of friends ready to shout-sing behind you.

Final Thoughts

Katie and Caroline’s wedding was everything I love about being an LGBTQ+ wedding photographer. Honest, emotional, and completely them. Nothing false and they wore their heart on their sleeves  If you’re planning your wedding and want it documented with heart, humour and no weird posing — I’d love to chat.

I regularly shoot weddings at The Bridge Inn in Leeds, and I know the venue like the back of my hand.
